In my travels, I came across a wise traveler who passed on this ancient proverb: "The one who does not get flat, does not rid the fat." Today we must lower our emissions to 2.5% and halve the issuance of NEAR on the network.
To those of you worried about your bags, I say this: Fear not! We have a plan. I have consulted with top ranking commanders of the Intents, AI, and Protocol Corps and there are multiple pathways for you to continue to serve in this Army Regime.

The NEAR ecosystem is collaborating on a significant tokenomics upgrade 🪙
Building on 5 years of mainnet success, NEAR is entering its next major growth phase. NEAR now underpins multi-billion dollar volumes, powers the cross-chain liquidity layer for privacy-preserving assets, and provides the foundation for a scalable and verifiable on-chain AI economy.
To usher in a new era of abundance, the NEAR ecosystem is now focusing on enhancing its economics to strengthen incentive alignment and ensure sustainable long-term growth.
The NEAR community has proposed a three-part enhancement to NEAR’s economics:
1. Halving Upgrade: Reduce NEAR’s maximum annual inflation to 2.5% for more sustainable tokenomics
2. Proposal – HSP-002: Support smaller validators to ensure network decentralization
3. Proposal – HSP-003: Increase rewards for veNEAR holders to reward early governance participation
These proposals highlight the critical role that House of Stake is already playing in NEAR’s economic future. Going forward, House of Stake will continue to drive the decision-making process around economic parameters for the NEAR ecosystem.
Together, these enhancements help maintain the sustainability of issuance around the NEAR token, while ensuring network decentralization and strengthening incentive alignment across validators and NEAR token holders.
These community-driven upgrades are designed to create economic opportunity for as many actors as possible across NEAR’s rapidly maturing ecosystem and sustain the protocol’s growth for the long term.
