The NEAR ecosystem is collaborating on a significant tokenomics upgrade 🪙 Building on 5 years of mainnet success, NEAR is entering its next major growth phase. NEAR now underpins multi-billion dollar volumes, powers the cross-chain liquidity layer for privacy-preserving assets, and provides the foundation for a scalable and verifiable on-chain AI economy. To usher in a new era of abundance, the NEAR ecosystem is now focusing on enhancing its economics to strengthen incentive alignment and ensure sustainable long-term growth. The NEAR community has proposed a three-part enhancement to NEAR’s economics: 1. Halving Upgrade: Reduce NEAR’s maximum annual inflation to 2.5% for more sustainable tokenomics 2. Proposal – HSP-002: Support smaller validators to ensure network decentralization 3. Proposal – HSP-003: Increase rewards for veNEAR holders to reward early governance participation These proposals highlight the critical role that House of Stake is already playing in NEAR’s economic future.
