Today, November 27, 2025, Chromie Squiggle by @ArtOnBlockchain turns FIVE. Launched exactly five years ago on November 27, 2020, it kicked off the entire generative art movement on Ethereum. Let’s look back at some notable moments throughout the years.

November 27, 2020 – Art Blocks' genesis collection dropped, and the world got its first taste of infinite, algorithm-born rainbows. 542 "Day Zero" Squiggles (#0 to #541) were minted that day alone, kicking off a revolution in generative NFTs at just 0.035 ETH each.

March 2021 – As hype built, collectors united to form Squiggle DAO, the first DAO dedicated to a single NFT project. Founded to coordinate, curate, and elevate Squiggles, it sparked collaborations, grants, and a treasury that's funded art initiatives ever since.

February 2023 – @LACMA made waves as one of the first major museums to acquire a Chromie Squiggle, donating #9999 (minted specially for them) and cementing Squiggles in permanent collections. This kicked off a wave: @icamiami, @ToledoMuseum, and more followed, proving generative art belongs in hallowed halls.

August 21, 2024 – After years of teases, the final #9999 was minted live to LACMA's wallet in a ceremonial "Farewell" contract. Supporters signed on as witnesses, closing the 10k cap with poetry and permanence. A heartfelt end to minting, but the start of endless legacy.

This year? Squiggles shone brighter: Toledo Museum snagged #1458 in the first public on-chain secondary market buy (July), "Infinite Images" exhibit wowed in October and new "Squiggle Sets" badges rewarded collectors. Plus, @artblocks_io hits 500 projects in December. Full circle!
